The 8th Annual South African Concierges Conference 2017

Introducing the “Bleisure” Travel Trend

Themed “Bleisure” Experiences, the 8th Annual South African Concierges Conference focused on the growing trend of business travelers incorporating leisure into their work trips. This global phenomenon is gaining traction, and South Africa is well-positioned to capitalize on this market.

“Internationally, this phenomenon is becoming a trend globally, and with so much South Africa has to offer, the bleisure experiences market is poised for growth,” said Deon Prinsloo, Head Concierge and Guest Relations Manager at Tsogo Sun’s Palazzo Hotel and Conference Organizer.

Expanding the Conference Across South Africa

Concierges in Johannesburg participate in four educational tours annually, with September marking the gathering of hospitality professionals for the Annual Concierges Conference. Traditionally hosted in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban, the 2017 edition saw the exciting inclusion of the Garden Route for the first time.

Promoting South Africa as a World-Class Destination

Since its inception, the South African Concierges Forum has aimed to position South Africa as a world-class tourist destination. The forum enables members to network, stay informed, and keep colleagues updated on the latest industry developments. This initiative has proven to be an invaluable tool in enhancing guest interactions and promoting tourism.

A Must-Attend Event for Hospitality Professionals

The Annual Concierges Conference is an essential event for anyone working directly with tourists and guests. As the only dedicated platform for hotel Concierges in South Africa, the conference provides a unique opportunity to exchange ideas and best practices.

Conference organizers Deon Prinsloo and Kagisho Ditira bring together a diverse range of exhibitors to showcase attractions and experiences available to travelers across South Africa. The conference is coordinated in Cape Town by Nardus Buys.

A No-Cost Event for Hospitality Frontline Staff

Each year, different hotels sponsor the Concierge Conferences, making attendance free of charge. However, participation is reserved for frontline hospitality professionals who engage with guests daily.

“Our goal is to cultivate passionate tourism ambassadors in each region and to highlight the crucial role that Concierges play in creating unforgettable experiences in South Africa,” says Prinsloo.
